Fuck Yeah Tollers!

Hi, all you animal lovers! This is pretty simple… please reblog this post! The Animal Rescue Site is having trouble getting enough people to click on it daily so they can meet their quota of getting FREE FOOD donated every day to abused and neglected animals in their shelters.
It takes less than a minute (only about 15 seconds actually) to go to their site and click on the purple box titled, ‘Click Here to Give - it’s FREE!’. From one click, it gives about .6 bowls of food to sheltered dogs. You can also click daily!
Keep in mind that this does not cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate food to abandoned/neglected animals in exchange for advertising. Here’s the web site! Please pass this along!

I had a lot of people mention that I should make a donation page for Sammy. I was hesitant at first just because I hate asking people or money but its for him not me. If you click on the photo it should take you directly to the donation page. If not, it is on my tumblr page.
Any donations will be used for the continued care of Sam. We would also like to make a nice size donation to either our local humane society or possibly start a fund for animals that suffer from DM. This is a debilitating disease and if you love your pet as much as we love Sam, it’s hard to watch him decline day after day when there is so much life left inside of him. You can see it on his face when you play with him that he forgets that he’s disabled. We aren’t thinking about ourselves. As much as we want him to be around longer, we just feel like he deserves it. You know you can tell when it’s time for them to go and I just don’t see that he is ready to go yet. I don’t feel like he’s ready to give up. This is at least going to make him more comfortable and he will be more willing to move around instead of laying around all day. He wants to move but he can’t drag his lower legs around. It’s harmful to him.
This is all so very much appreciated. I love that people understand that he is an actual family member. If he was my sister, mom, or dad, I wouldn’t just give up on them if they didn’t want me to.
Please also, if you don’t mind, repost.

You all know your pets are the best people in your entire lives: the sweetest, most loving, most hilarious people you know. And one day you might need some help helping them, too.
Also: LOOK AT THAT FACE!!!

I know this is not a toller, but, well. Help a fellow dog-owner out, if it’s possible, please <3

The following is a completely true story.
After a woman had her baby, she decided to buy him a puppy that he could grow up with.  The puppy would always sit by his crib and guard it.
The baby was born with an extremely rare heart condition, and eventually he needed a heart transplant.  Since the mother couldn’t afford it on a lunch lady’s salary, she did her best to raise funds.  None of her friends offered to help financially.
One day she came home from work and saw that the puppy had died, but her baby seemed fine.  When the vet did an autopsy, he said the puppy was missing its heart.  There was also some stitches on the baby’s chest.
The puppy gave its heart to save the baby.

BUT WHO WAS PHONE?!

AND WHO DONATED THE OVARIES?!

The kid ate the dog’s heart, right? That’s what they’re suggesting?

CACKLING.

What, was the baby home alone? You’d think a babysitter would call if your dog died and someone was performing heart surgery on the kid.

And thus were the humble beginnings of Doogie Howser, MD, who performed his own inter-species heart transplant as a baby, using only a fork from his lunch lady mom’s school and a puppy he didn’t like very much.

…Um…why couldn’t the mother give her heart to the baby? That would give it the extra smack of sentimentality that these stories need.

what.

…BUT WHO WAS LOGIC.

We went and picked up this ball of fluff today!
We’ve decided to call him Takoda (or Koda, for short) which is a native American name meaning ‘friend to everyone’. We gave him a native American name because his parents also have native American names, and the meaning is especially true because we have a house full of pets (2 dogs and 4 cats), as well as people (my mum is a childminder so there are usually a few kids about too!)

Dogs I Want

laurenanselmo:

I know I should always adopt from the shetler and rescue homeless pets, but oftentimes I come across various dog breeds that I would really love to have.  I’m going to start writing about each of the breeds as I come across them starting with my favorite breed that I do not have:

Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever

aka “Toller.”

This breed recieved AKC recognition in 2003.  They originated in Canada as decoy dogs used to lure waterfowl up to the shore.  Once the birds were gunned down, the Toller would happily retrieve them.  They excel at obedience, field and tracking, agility, flyball, and pet therapy.  Medium sized and compact, Tollers weigh anywhere between about 35-55lbs and vary in shades of coppery red with white on their chest, feet, tail tip, and often a blaze on their head.

Aren’t they beautiful?
